Caster Calls Episode 6: Paperthin
Today on Caster Calls with ZombieGrub, I am joined by PUBG caster, Paperthin. Paperthin began his career as an esports caster when moving to Korea after making a significant shift in his life at 30 by selling all his possessions and moving from America to Seoul. Before jumping into casting full time, Paperthin started off with teaching in Korea while getting involved in esports on the side. While doing some odd jobs for AfreecaTV, Paperthin was invited to start a PUBG league – this officially became the genesis of his career.
In this episode, Paperthin gives us a rundown on play-by-play casting versus analytical and hype casting and what makes one more complicated than the other. With that, he shares with us some tools and tricks he’s learned only through experience. Specifically, mentioning things that are not important. Paperthin continues by revealing how the esports industry came to a complete halt, if it at least for a little while, until it all went online and PUBG global series was introduced. As of now, Paperthin is patiently waiting for things to get back to normal so he can continue to connect with players and casters alike.
