Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow Trophy-"Postponing the Inevitable"
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow Trophy-Postponing the Inevitable/Defeat Death
- General Information: A classic Castlevania boss who's right where he
belongs: in the Clock Tower. Death fights you in TWO different forms,
so I'll be covering BOTH forms here. During the FIRST form, you'll be
fighting the SCYTHE ITSELF, since Death is in an ethereal state. His
attacks during this form are listed below under "First Form:". In his
SECOND form, Death will man up and face you himself, with a much more
bad-ass scythe. His attacks in this form will be listed under the
"Second Form:" section below.
My level is probably a bit high due to the soul farming I did, but my
set-up should help you out anyway. What I essentially did was use a
fast, good-hitting weapon (like Gram or Mystletain) and put on the
BUER soul for my GUARDIAN (blue) soul, to nullify Death's pesky sickle
ability. For my bullet (red) soul, I used LIGHTNING DOLL as it hits
multiple times for very good damage. Just buff yourself with whatever
yellow soul you wish.
FIRST FORM:
- Spinning Scythe: Death's Scythe essentially just spins and rather
slowly moves towards you. Keep on attacking it while making sure you
don't get backed into a corner or into a sickle.
- Lasers: Death summons a series of lasers to zap wherever you are
standing... or where you WERE standing as the best (and only) way to
dodge this move is to move out of the way. Be sure to move somewhat
slowly so more lasers waste their time trying to hit you in a shorter
space. You don't want to RUN across half the room after all.
- Random Sickles: During the fight, small sickles will randomly appear
and fly around the room. Really more of an annoyance than anything
else. Just dodge them (they move slow) or use a soul (like BUER) to
nullify the threat.
SECOND FORM:
- Scythe Throw: Death throws his scythe out at you. Simply duck to
avoid it. Not much else you can do...
- Scythe Swipe: Death does a QUICK forward swipe. This is probably his
hardest attack to avoid, since he does it so fast. To avoid it though,
just double-jump over him.
- Scythe Room Spin: Death makes his scythe float up to the ceiling,
where it promptly starts to spin around the room (throwing chunks of
rock as it goes. It'll go around the ENTIRE room. The idea is to duck
when its on the ceiling and double-jump over it when it's on the
ground. Get ready whenever you see the scythe start to float upwards.
NOTE: Be sure to AVOID Death's Scythe still, even after he "dies".
