Pro Tennis Tips
- Rance's basic Sword attack is a two-hit combo where the 2nd swing has a much bigger hitbox than the 1st - don't be afraid to whiff the 1st hit so you can use the much safer 2nd swing.
- Rance's basic Kick attack is generally impractical due to its short range, but if you use it while falling you can gain a bit more air time with it, which can be helpful in dodging attacks.
- Rance has only 1 sub-weapon - his boomerangs. They are cheap, but don't do a lot of damage except on bigger bosses where you can get 3 or more hits in for each one.
- Sill (QCF + A / C) is a good zoning tool, with her A version (Fire) dealing massive damage while C (Lightning) deals less damage but is very useful for clearing projectiles at the same time. Make sure you don't leave yourself open as Rance will pause in place while directing Sill.
- Tackle (FF + A / C) has invincibility frames and can be used to go through smaller bosses or escape corner traps.
- Rance can Guard (Y) to reduce incoming damage and prevent hitstun animation at the cost of his MP. If executed right before the attack hits, will perform a "Perfect Guard" where he takes no damage, but I can't play Royal Guard in Devil May Cry so you won't be seeing me do this often.
- Rance's Item Crash, Kichiku Attack, is essentially free damage pass the start-up unless you whiff it on teleporting bosses. It's Dark Elemental however, which means that it's ineffective against certain bosses, notably Death and Dracula.
