It's taken me a while to put this on here because it just takes so long to get going. Between the night transitions and the need to do at least some grinding for hearts, it isn't a fast paced entry that you can just jump into. But I did it because it sort of needs to be here. That, and I was planning on putting 3 Castlevania games on here, except stupid recording issues got me again for the 3rd game...

You don't need me to get you an opinion on this game as there are plenty of those out there. I will say that as far as atmosphere goes, this is a worthy game at least. If you only had the original game and wanted more of that kind of thing, this sequel isn't as sharp a turn as it could have been. It's still moody, it still has most of the DNA there, and as long as you had patience or a guide, this would have been just fine. Once Castlevania 3 existed, then you could really criticize this game more.
