So...I'm never going to knock effort. There's a lot of it here. The colors and animation remind me of the DOS Lucasarts game, and the soundtrack is very Genny in the best way possible. To play? It's not fun, and I'm sort of surprised that I didn't see any reference to an updated version anywhere because this doesn't feel finished. It does feel like this was something that just had to get out the door at some point, but with as much being put into sound, graphics, and writing, it feels strange that so much is missing on the gameplay side.

It's a 2-button affair with jump and attack. There's one attack if you don't count items, and enemies will take a few hits and just un-stun and punch you in the face. The attack range is awful, there's no special attack, and there's no grabbing. So you have a beat-em-up game where you're not encouraged to straight up fight anything. If you want to survive, you'll need to hit someone twice and then just run away before they punch through your combo. Rinse, repeat, for pretty much every enemy.

There are then the smaller issues like the camera wanting you to be at the absolute edge of the screen, the playfield being far too big for what's happening, and the abundance of empty space...but none of that seems to really get in the way.

Here's hoping I'm wrong and that there's an updated version somewhere. I'd be more than happy to replace this and rethink it.
