Catch a Mew in Pokémon Blue, Red, or Yellow! (Game Boy) - A Wild Glitch Appears!
1,296Here's how to catch a Mew in Pokemon Blue, Red, or Yellow! It's a relatively easy glitch in the Generation 1 Pokémon games that allows you to encounter a wild Mew. This trick is a variation of the versatile Trainer-Fly glitch, and it works on Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow (and probably Green, but I'm only guessing).
Play through the game like normal, and make your way to Cerulean City. Stay at the Pokémon Center once you're there, then defeat every trainer on the Nugget Bridge.
Next, you'll need to catch an Abra since he knows the move Teleport. In Pokémon Blue or Red, you can find him in the grass west of the Nugget Bridge. In Pokémon Yellow, you'll need to search the grass just north of the Pokemon Daycare. Either way, do NOT interact with the trainer in the grass west of the Nugget Bridge.
Once you've caught an Abra, stand on the square ONE TILE NORTH of the square that triggers the trainer battle in the grass west of the nugget bridge. You'll probably want to save your game on that square just in case you make a mistake.
Now walk one tile south and immediately press START to open your menu. You should be standing in the field of vision of that trainer. Access your POKEMON menu and use Abra's Teleport. The trainer will have a "!" above him, but you'll teleport away before he can battle you.
Once you're back in front of the Cerulean PokéCenter, immediately head to the Cerulean Gym and fight the first SWIMMER on the right side. Defeat him (both his Horsea and his Shellder) then walk outside.
Now walk up the Nugget Bridge. Your menu will pop up on its own. Close the menu, and this will trigger an encounter with a wild Mew! Catch him just like any other difficult-to-catch pokémon! This may require you to put him to sleep or paralyze him and throw LOTS of pokéballs.
