Catching Mew In Pokémon Red Using A UK Cheat Cartridge: The Xploder Lite
3This video demonstrates how you can catch Mew in Pokémon Red by using a cheat cartridge to break the game's code. This cartridge was released in the UK in the year 2000 to celebrate the launch of the North American release of Pokémon Gold and Silver. It came pre loaded with cheats for catching Mew and Celebi and was highly marketed to cash in on the rising popularity of Pokémon in the late 90's. As with most cheat devices of the era, you had to be careful using them as they could easily render your save file or even your whole cartridge unusable.
