Catching the 'Ghost' (Generation I)
When you perform the Trainer-Fly glitch/Ditto glitch, the game brings up a Pokémon as if it was an instant-encounter Pokémon, like the Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave or one of the Electrodes in the Power Plant. The Ghost at the Pokémon Tower counts as an instant encounter Pokémon, and all instant-encounter as opposed to normal wild Marowak are programmed to be called GHOST, and have the ghosts' picture. If the opponent's last Special stat was 145 before you return to the route which you flew away from, then you'll get a Marowak as the equivalent Pokémon, and it will look like the Ghost. However, this Ghost is catchable and will not necessarily reveal itself as Marowak even if you have the Silph Scope because this data is defined separately at the Pokémon Tower, although the Marowak sprite can be revealed by a glitch by other means which involves viewing a Pokémon's stats in battle.
