The developer time of this level is actually more lenient than it looks. However, it is still difficult to beat due to the fact that there’s a lot of things could go wrong in this level. Besides, you are more likely to die or fall off before reaching the end of the level.

To beat the developer time of this level, you had to go through the level without waiting for too many spikes and bounceable torches. Next, you had to land on the bounceable torches instead of bouncing it, this can be done by spinning when you are about to bounce on it. Furthermore, you had to use an Aku Aku mask on a hazard to save some time, preferably on the spike just before the TNT crate. And most importantly, do not mess up the ascending and the last side-scrolling parts, as these parts will cost you a significant amount of time if you messed up. You will beat the developer time with significant margin if you follow the tips correctly.

I was surprised that I beat the developer time for only a couple of seconds on my very first successful time trial. However, I decided to redo it until I had a respectable time as shown in this video, which I clocked just under 1 minute and 39 seconds, which is more than 18 seconds ahead of the developer time. So far, I’m quite satisfied for my current time and I’ll probably aim for extending my margin to 20 seconds ahead of the developer time for the next run.
