5Steve Haven was a troubled man, even before his mind split into two. A savant by nature with a bad habit for hoarding, Steve struggled to maintain a normal existence before the Cataclysm. Seeking to pursue his work away from the judgmental gaze of the many who could not understand him, Steve made a living mining into the dark recesses of the Earth. His singular focus on his work made him exceptional at it, leading him to take the deepest, darkest and most dangerous assignments, filling him with a sense of pride and purpose that was absent in the many other areas of his life.
This all changed one day, when he uncovered something that would alter his life forever. Working around a fault with open lava, Steve uncovered a staircase the twisted in upon itself and when Steve stood at the summit of its dark decline, he suddenly felt faint and blacked out. He doesn't know how long he was unconscious, but it was long enough for him to have an apocalyptic dream. Cities burning, the oceans boiling, the dead walking the earth once again. Steve didn't know what it meant, but what he does know is that after that moment, he wasn't the same man he was before.
With a new voice in his head, carrying a name that is a twisted perversion of his own, Steve came to in the utter darkness of the bottom of the mine. The lights are out, the voices of his coworkers have silenced and the only company he has is the disembodied voice that calls itself, Skeve Craven.
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead is a very unique, rogue-like, perma-death, survival rpg. Open- source and free to all, Cataclysm offers a level of depth and possibility not seen in any AAA titles to date.
This lets play series draws upon the inspiration of RyconRoleplay's own roleplay series of the game. Telling the story from an almost exclusive in character perspective, this story offers something new and interesting to both new players and veterans of the Cataclysm experience.
