Welcome back for another 'extra' CDP, this time I'm covering the last of the four TW02 archetypes: The Fabled! The Fabled archetype consists of LIGHT Fiend and Beast monsters that largely benefit from being discarded, aiming to Synchro Summon to ultimately win the duel. However, I wanted to tap into one Synchro Monster in particular, The Fabled Unicore, as it offers a unique control effect. You see, when the opponent activates any card or effect while both player's hands are the same, Unicore negates and destroys that activated card during the chain. This strategy then revolves around modulating your hand during the opponent's turn, surprising them with a Unicore negate they weren't expecting. The Fabled also offer a bit more than just Unicore - a lot of extra draws. Fabled Ragin, when Synchro Summoned, lets you draw until you have 2 cards in hand, plus their new Level 4 Synchro Fabled Gamygyn sets up for Ragin as well as giving you additional draw(s) when sent to the GY. Access to either is easier than ever before with The Fabled Behillmoth, a new Level 2 Tuner that can faux-Synchro Summon any Fabled monster from your Extra Deck by discarding Fabled monsters whose total Levels equal what you're summoning. Fun fact, this can even use all Tuners, giving you Ragin draws while clearing Fabled Kushano from your hand.
Alright, enough about the Fabled, let's get to the other core part of today's build, the Purrely. The Purrely are an Xyz Summoning Fairy archetype, best defined by their Quick-Play Spell cards. These Spells, such as Purrely Happy Memory, let you choose to discard a card during their resolution, and Special Summon a Level 1 Purrely out of your deck. Bring out Purrely, and you can excavate the top 3 cards to try and find a Purrely S/T to add to hand, or bring out Purrelyly, and you can tutor any non-Quick-Play Purrely card. What makes these Quick-Play Spells even better is if you use them while one of the Purrely R2NK Xyz Monsters is on the field, as the Xyz can attach that Spell as Xyz Material and give you another beneficial effect. For example, Epurrely Noir sets a Purrely Trap when you do. Ultimately, all roads lead to Expurrely Noir, a R7NK Xyz Monster that is unaffected by your opponent's activated effects while it has 5 or more materials. Add that to the effects granted by an attached Purrely Quick-Play Spell, plus its own Quick Effect spin, and you have quite the boss monster.
Bringing us full circle, give me a paragraph to explain how these two very different archetypes work together. First, when the Purrely Quick-Play Spells discard your Fabled monsters, you eliminate the downside of discarding. Secondly, this also leaves a Level 1 Non-Tuner on your board, giving you another material to Synchro Summon with as long as you have access to a copy of Kushano. Third, Ragin is a really good option to refill your hand and give your deck more oopmf to keep comboing, something that can affect more traditional Purrely builds. Lastly, Purrely Sleepy Memory, when attached as Xyz Material, lets you draw a card during the opponent's Standby Phase. Chain both copies together with Purrelyeap!?, and you can draw 4 cards. While that doesn't quite equate to the opponent's starting hand of 6, that should be enough to apply significant pressure with Unicore. Enjoy the replays and watch the memories play out in real-time!
