Richard grew up in Houston, TX. He never thought about being an artist for most of his life. It was always just something he did -- doodle in class, out of class, and everywhere in between. It wasn’t until the age of 24 that he decided to seriously pursue that which was a huge part of him. He became very focused on life drawing and took evening workshops multiple days a week after his regular workday. This resulted in attending Ringling College of Art and Design where it all culminated in his thesis film The Bookworm. Since attending, he has developed a particular affinity to storyboarding, but also an almost equal appreciation for animation. One of his biggest driving motivations in these disciplines is the challenge of them. The sky is literally the limit and, at least when working alone, it is up to oneself to accomplish their goals to the absolute best of their abilities. That idea underlies all of Richard’s work. When considering story and acting it’s also challenging to come up with something fun, cohesive, and paced entertainingly.
