In the first installment of Sega's flagship series featuring its eventually iconic mascot, Sonic's first adventure hit the Genesis in 1991 in legendary fashion. Sega pushed the speed limits of typical side scrollers of the era and introduced plenty of new gameplay mechanics and a vivid art style to set Sonic apart from its competitors. The end result was a truly classic game that would set the groundwork for an immense gaming legacy that still continues today.
