Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Big Brain Academy from Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. Released in the middle of the most popular and innovative days of the Nintendo DS, Big Brain Academy came out right after Nintendo's other educational hit Brain Age. The similarities between the two go beyond the name on the box. They're both comprised of brain teasers, they both have a professorial guide and they both playfully measure your smarts. The difference isn't in what they're doing as much as it's in their tone. Big Brain Academy is kind of like Brain Age got mixed up with Wario Ware. You're not adding black and white numbers, you're adding cows and a sheep. So where Brain Age has the look of a newspaper, a deliberate style for its intended audience, Big Brain Academy has the look of a coloring book.
