11Great news, ROM 1.6 of the game alleviates the pain of being stuck to only Fisticuffs if you have more than 1 ball left to play. If you're on Ball 1-2 OR have EB's, you don't have to worry. I took the liberty of using Ball Control to get there quickly, for the purpose of this demonstration. Any prior guides published that have this issue described are now outdated.
Here's how the bug works:
If you KO any opponent, the game logic gets confused, and you're "booted" back to single ball play. You get credit for the current Purse for KO'ing (122m to 157m with a ~16m Purse). The opponent's lifebar still shows, though, so the ROM is confused and thinks you're still in a fight. Purse value can still be increased.
Fisticuffs can still be activated, and draining a ball still works as normal.
I believe you can still heal while you're in this stage. Or, in this case, limbo.
Draining still works as normal, and will boot you out of the fight at the end of the sequence. Play resumes as normal!
