Chantelise - 2 - First steps
I always say that there's no update schedule, but this run may well be more regular than most, simply because, while I can easily play and record a whole chapter in one slug, it's not practical to try to encode, upload, and annotate huge amounts of footage at once.
For reference, I actually recorded the entire first dungeon yesterday afternoon, but the editing and encoding process is sort of painful. I record Chantelise in 1024x768, a fair bit larger than most games I run. This means the files take appreciably longer to process under the best of circumstances. And then I went and forgot about the desync problem, so the encoded versions of the dungeon videos had to be scrapped and redone.
And then today I made the mistake of working with the "big" AVIs that I encode from instead of the recordings directly out of FRAPs. This little 5 minute video took nearly an hour to get ready for uploading.
Compounding the issue is that the process renders my desktop effectively unusable for the duration, and I don't like losing too much "play time" out of my day. I'm a lazy jerk, what can I say?
Anyways, lessons learned all around. Once we're out of the first dungeon, I'll probably be able to upload around 10 minutes a day, as long as I can keep playing at the same rate. Until then, though, we're going to have a lot of "bite-sized" updates.
