This is the first boss in Chantelise. I actually had a bit of trouble figuring out how to beat the bugger, but in the end the solution was simple. Making liberal use of the dodge mechanic. Getting a few HP boosting items (I forget what they're called, starts with an 'F' though).

The golem usually does three smashing attacks, followed either by a spin (warning beforehand) and several jumps, or just several jumps. You dodge to the side at the last minute to stop the stomping attacks from hitting you.

Beating on the boss causes it to drop magic crystals, which are essential to beating it. You take off one arm at a time, then just do a decent amount of damage to the body and it is dead. Pretty easy once you figure out how to beat this guy. Entirely possible to beat him without even getting hit, if you're careful.

Chantelise actually came out before Recettear, which is the first EasyGamestation game I played. Both were localized by Carpe Fulgar. Recettear IS a dungeon crawler too, but more isometric, and it is more focused on the shop/economy system. You don't even have to visit dungeons at all in that game in order to win.

So far, this game is tougher than Recettear, but it's still pretty fun.

Chantelise is currently available on Steam, Gamersgate and I think another source as well. Steam is currently having a week long 10% off discount to celebrate the release (released on the 29th of July, 2011, which is the same day I uploaded this). So for now it's only $8.99, as opposed to $9.99 (which is already pretty cheap). Recettear is $19.99 still, I think but it's a brilliant game IMO.
