Started messing around with Hal, and so far stage 5 is definitely the most fun to lab. Big combos, big puntos, I love it! lmao

Compared to Ifumi, the one thing that stood out to me is how the Wing Layer timing and gauge management differs. My Ifumi 5-1 doesn't have too many issues with gauge recharge as there is a specific moment dedicated to getting tons of cubes by destroying some lucrative parts with sword combos, but here it's a constant battle for cubes. I mostly stay in Order Field for them even if it makes aiming the spawners a bit harder as the boss moves around slightly enough to throw you off.

I noticed while watching the VTF-INO run that he kills 5-1 rather fast, and doesn't have as much time to build a big combo. Just like with my Ifumi optimizations, I try to get the combo higher earlier on so that the bonus multiplier can apply to more bosses and parts. I don't constantly sword combo the boss, only in the center or when I need gauge. I also sacrifice one life in 5-1 to get gauge recharge for free.

5-2 is real tight with Wing Layer timings, I don't have the same leeway as Ifumi, but on the other hand the Wing Layer can freeze the combo timer more easily as soon as I drop it on the boss. I also have to pay attention to the sound cues and the score text in order to get the central eye's cubes. The GC version is kinda fxxked of da world in here and the cubes are invisible lmao.

Also 5-2 and 5-3 feel so much more simplistic compared to Ifumi daaamn lol. I almost have the opposite problem of Ifumi where I reach 9999 so fast that I have to kill the boss and spam my Wing Layers before the combo timer dies, rather than making sure I actually get to 9999 before my meta runs out. Being able to drop the Wing Layer on top of the boss and jack up that hit counter is pretty neat, a luxury after spinning around the world with Ifumi lol.

So for testing purposes, I started this state with max meta gauge, but maybe it's still doable with a bit less. After all, I end up with 2 unused meta stock. Finishing stage 4 with max meta is something I haven't completely labbed yet, but it may not be necessary to get the gauge to max (which would be even more demanding than my Ifumi setup come to think of it)
