Character Redesigns while on Air: #cartoonnetwork
Characters Who Got Redesigned During the Same Runtime:
These aren’t reboots, but art style changes while the show was on air:
Starting off we have American Dragon Jake Long: During Season 1 The American Dragon was much buffer and heroic looking. By Season 2 they redesigned the transformation to look much more slender like an eastern depiction of a dragon, but fans were confused that if he’s a Western Hero, why change his Western design.
Then there is Gumball: In Season’s 1 and 2, Most Gumball characters had oval eyes , and a centered styled face, by season 3 and beyond they got redesigned to have rounded eyes and a facial structure that was more spread out.
Next is Transformers Prime: In seasons 1 and 2: Optimus was much more slender and human looking, BumbleBee was Yellow with Black Stripes, by Season 3 Optimus got a Forge of Solus Prime upgrade that made him much bulkier and Bumblebee got a reverse paint job.
Moving on we have the Simpsons, during the late 80s, the Simpsons looked much more Comic strip like with loose sketched faces, and in the 90s they got a much more clean and rounded look with defined physical properties.
Lastly is Danny Phantom, while it wasn’t a huge change, his start of Season 1 Costume did not have a logo, and by the start of Season 2, in the Episode Memory Bank, when Sam Revives the timeline, everything goes back to normal but Danny keeps his logo from the altered timeline.
