I have covered a number of alternative Elite Straps for the Oculus Quest 2 on this channel. Many have come from Elygo, Esimen, Vakdon and Eyglo - all are the same manufacture of these head straps.
Today we are looking at a revised edition to their line-up of head straps - the Eyglo K5 Head Strap for the Oculus Quest 2. It is very similar to the K3 that I have also reviewed on this channel, but it has the additional colour option and it also has a few improvements.
The first is that the back of the strap has a small raised piece that sits above the middle band of the strap. This adds some additional comfort to the top part of your head but not as much as their taller K6 strap.
When worn, I didn't really feel much improvement here. The strap needed to be positioned higher at the top of my head to feel right, at which point the strap was fit at an angle.
The top head band has been improved. Replaced with a more rubber backed material, this makes it much cleaner to more hygienic, because you can now wipe it down and it will also create less friction to your hair - if you have any!
The downsides of this head strap is its overall build quality. The rear part does move a fair bit, the side arms were more of a pain to fit and install than the K3 was, where the side arm parts felt like they weren't as accurately moulded to the side-rails of the Quest 2.
It's odd with the black version that the side parts that attach to the Quest 2 weren't also black, but you can pay $20 more for a full black kit that DOES come with black side rail pieces (lined above) that can transform your pearly white Guest 2 into an almost black one.
If you can't afford the extra $15 for an official Elite Strap, then I would ask you to save that little bit more. The differences are night and day between the two in terms of quality and comfort. So I would pass on the K5 and invest in the real deal.
