In this video I take a look at Don't Die, Minerva!,* a rogue-like procedurally generated dungeon crawler set in a haunted mansion.

I really liked this game but I found it quite hard initially and despite their recommendation to not die I kept dying! At around 32:05 in the video I had to concede and set it to easy mode. From that point on I began completing levels and earning upgrades to the point of actually reaching the first boss monster. I didn't beat him but I don't think it was particularly hard to, I just played poorly at that point. You can see my encounter at 1:25:40 in the video.

I found it to be a really well made game that's lots of fun to play. I really liked making the pumpkins explode by shining my torch on them, very cool! During my play I had a monkey, a cat, and then finally a dragon pet to help me. There's cutesy and spooky fun in the design and it shows its quality in the implementation. A nice little gem even if it is a rogue (aarrgg!).

Don't Die, Minerva! is available on Steam for the PC and the Microsoft store for the X-Box.

On a dark and stormy night, 11-year-old Minerva discovers a haunted house deep in the woods and before she knows it, she is in for the fight of her life!

Don't Die, Minerva! is a rogue-lite action RPG set in a haunted house. Armed with a flashlight and a backpack full of friendly stuffed animals who are brought to life by the house's magic, Minerva must explore the mansion and defeat its ghostly inhabitants.

Along the way, Minerva meets helpful characters who can aid her on her quest. Death is nearly inevitable, but with each run you will gain valuable essence that can unlock new abilities and better loot.

With multiple levels of difficulty ranging from an easy stroll in a moonlit park to a punishing challenge only to be faced by the bravest of souls, Don't Die, Minerva! offers crisp controls, exhilarating action, spectacular visuals, and a deep stat-driven loot system.

Dungeons, loot, and enemies are all generated randomly, meaning no two runs are the same.
