INTRODUCTION:
Chemad is mad. The Gods of Metal play a gig tonight and the idea he had of printing out the wanking guitarist GIF so he could get it signed by the band hasn’t come out quite nicely. And if that was not enough, Badajoz’s seventh bio-dance group has organized a batukada festival in the neighbourhood, blocking the entrance to the concert hall.
Help Cheman collecting powwwer medallions while regaining control of the neighbourhood getting rid of all the unnerving batukadas. Don’t let a samba-reggae spoil a good riff!
REVIEW:
To be able to enter the concert hall and complete the game you have to make your way through two levels where the object is to collect all the powwwer medallions and bring these to a powwwer totem, and you will also need to get rid of the batukadas. On the first level there is several powwwer totems while there is only one on the last level, which means a lot more walking on level 2 for bringing the powwwer medallions to the powwwer totem.
At the top of the screen you can see how many medallions you need to collect, and you can also see how many batukadas there is left to beat up – You defeat the batukadas by jumping on their head three times. There is also a status display for how many keys you have, because you need to collect keys for opening doors.
There is other enemies than the batukadas, and these can be used to reach inaccessible places by jumping on top of them, but if you run or jump straight into them you will lose a life.
This is a typical flip screen platform game, and it is not that it is a bad game, but it is just nothing special either. The game was originally made for the NES in 2018 and now it has been ported to the Amstrad CPC and the ZX Spectrum.
For some reason the Spectrum version is the only version without in game music, which is quite disappointing because an AY soundtrack exists and is used in the Amstrad CPC version.
The graphical engine used is a typical Mojon Twins MK engine with “see through” sprites and therefore there is some color clash problems. This isn't much of a problem in level 1 but it gets much worse in level 2. The sound fx has been heard many times before in other games with a similar engine.
The game seems untested and unfinished because in level 2 on some of the top screens it is posible to jump out of the top of the screen and then you will get stuck or the game will crash. The game might also crash when completed, and there is some problems with the Sinclair joystick controls.
This game needs to be bug fixed, have some background color adjustment (especially on level 2) to reduce color clash, and the Amstrad CPC AY soundtrack should be put in.
The game was made by The Mojon Twins in 2019.
