A non-violent first-person shooter using the Doom engine, made as a promotion for the Chex cereal brand. The game was deliberately made to be non-violent due to the cereal market mostly consisting of children, so everything was basically re-skinned to look cartoony. The game was included in Chex boxes as a cereal box prize. In Doom, we got a Doom Marine shooting demons from Hell with guns, rockets, and plasma. In Chex Quest, we get a Chex Warrior shooting evil slimy creatures called Flemoids with "zorchers". Since Flemoids are immune to conventional weapons, the zorchers were modified to be able to send them back to their own dimension, and thus, no corpses are left behind.

The game itself is a total conversion of The Ultimate Doom version of the game, and uses its own executable which is a modified version of the Final Doom code. Speaking of Final Doom, I had plans to record both IWADs of the game, but eventually gave up on that due to time constraints as well as situations beyond my control. Also I keep forgetting where to go in those levels, especially since I've paused my Doom II recordings multiple times to look up a walkthrough on where to go next or to have a break, so yeah.

Since you've read this far, here's a secret: I never really liked cereal. I just played this game for funsies. But I do like the Chex Mix snacks. I played Chex Quest HD, a remake of this game. I never really cared about the codes, and neither did I remember seeing them on Chex Mix snack bags. But yeah, in that game, the Chex Squadron becomes the Chex Mix Squadron, and the Chex Warrior gets a name, Fred Chexter.
