It is highly recommended not to stick with a single weapon. Up until chapter 6,the weapon choice won't matter too much. For chapter 6,Ion Blaster is highly recommended. For chapter 7,use ion blaster or neutron gun. For chapter 8,a laser cannon is recommended,since it can kill the big chickens in just a few seconds. For chapter 9,you may switch to neutron gun or ion blaster. For chapter 10,laser cannon is highly recommended,mostly because the 3 big chickens fire eggs at an extremely fast rate,and the eggs themselves are very fast,too,so you'll want to get rid of these chickens as quickly as you can. For chapter 11,try to get an ion blaster as soon as you can. If it doesn't appear,use neutron gun. The spread that is offered by the ion blaster is really good for fighting the mother-hen ship and the chickens it spawns,since you won't have to get directly under a chicken to kill it. Neutron gun has a slight spread,so you can use that,too,but be careful! Laser cannon has no spread,so it's not a good idea to use it here. You also don't have to collect any of the food items if you try to do a run like this,since it won't really help you that much.
