Chickens Wear Plunger Butts For Science
Scientists have long wondered how dinosaurs actually moved. Some think they may have a good model, using their evolutionary cousin, the chicken. Using 12 chickens, scientists raised them in 3 separate ways- one group was "control," another was weighed down, and the last had artificial tails, or "plungers" attached to them. The result? the "tailed" chickens walked in a completely different way, giving us insight into how the similarly weighted bipedal dinosaurs would move. Kim Horcher and Tim Frisch discuss.
