If we were to curate some sort of videogame canon, Thief (or Dark Project as it was called in our homeland) would probably be part of it.

The classic stealth game by visionaries extraordinaires at Looking Glass (RIP) is one of the all-time great computer games. Does it hold up? Well, see for yourself. (SPOILERS: it does.)

The most interesting thing about it is probably that despite its influence, it's still very unique and almost idiosyncratic in its design. Almost all later stealth games approach the concept very differently.
