Chill Out -- Original Composition (Mario Paint)
42Eightieth video. It's been a while, hasn't it? This is my eleventh original composition using Mario Paint, called "Chill Out."
This is a simple melody set at a leisurely tempo, and there's a pretty personal story behind it. Chill Out was originally a reaction to the big, huge pressure I used to feel about Mario Paint, composing, and somewhat other aspects of life in general. There's always a lot of pressure to try to become or create the next huge sensation. You judge your new works against your old works that came before, and you feel the need to outdo yourself. But if you always feel this way, working will become difficult and stressful. The stress reduces your creativity, and you end up being frustrated and not improving. So then you give up what you should enjoy doing.
As you can see, having this attitude only presents huge, imaginary problems. So Chill Out is about taking that pressure away. Don't feel that everything you do has to be the best you ever did; just keep writing, do what you love because you love what you do, and let the improvements develop naturally.
To my subscribers, fellow Composers at the Hangout, and anyone else who has ever interacted with me, I owe you all a huge debt of thanks. Mario Paint Composer has played a role more crucial in developing my love of music than I could have ever imagined the first time I hit the (then) yellow upload button. You have been incredibly supportive, and having that support was critical. Thank you all, and while this may not be the most impressive piece I ever put out, I hope you all enjoy.
