Chinese Warship Fails to Ram US Navy Warship in International Waters
A significant escalation between China's PLAN and the United States Navy occurred on June 3rd, 2023. US Navy and Royal Canadian Navy warships were transiting the Taiwan Strait in INTERNATIONAL WATERS conducting Freedom of Navigation voyage when approached by a PLAN warship. The PLAN warship paralleled the US Navy ship for a short time and established radio communication via the Bridge to Bridge radio. The PLAN ship declared it's intent to maneuver in the path of the US Navy ship and advised them to change course to avoid collision. This action is an intentional attempt to collide their ship with another ship. By definition, a 'Ram'. The PLAN ship was not able to ram the US ship due to American evasive action (slowing down).
