Choicest VGM - VGM #470 - Universe at War: Earth Assault - Bass Case
Soundtrack composed by Frank Klepacki
Now this is a pretty badass song to listen to as you begin an offensive playing as the Novus. While it's still got the synths throughout it's also got some rockin' guitar samples added to the mix. And it's definitely got that funk metal vibe to it (which I tend to love).
Speaking of bass cases, let's have a look at the history of the bass guitar. Apparently, it largely supplanted the double bass in popular music around the 1950s. Paul Tutmarc actually developed the first modern electric bass guitar (i.e. a fretted string instrument meant to be played horizontally) in the 1930s, but It wasn't until the 1950s though that Leo Fender and George Fullerton developed the first mass-produced electric bass guitar. Since the 50s, the bass guitar rose in popularity and is an instrument closely associated with rock music.
The soundtrack was originally offered for free off the Petroglyph forums but you can download a copy from the Free VGM section at Choicest Games. It's also available for streaming off Frank Klepacki's website.
