A game that I need to beat after many attempts was Chrono Trigger. Considered one of the best RPGs ever made, every time I would attempt to finish the game, something would impede my progress. Whether it was changing computers and losing save files, to corrupting a save file after a week off, or loading too early save states, something would stop me from finishing the game. I finally remedied this last year and it definitely was well worth the wait.
So, it's spiritual sequel was always on my radar as a result. Chrono Cross was made in 1999 and shows no signs of it being a sequel to the SNES classic. While the characters and world are different, that doesn't mean anything when Final Fantasy does that every numbered entry. But most people expected a sequel... what they got was an experimental title with a different battle mechanic, a million playable characters to build a party with, and an ambitious story that it turned a lot of people off. Let's see if they were right to put this game down when I finally finish Chrono Cross!
