Cinderella Phenomenon [Part 34] Happily Ever After [FINAL]
0The final part of Cinderella Phenomenon! It's been a wild ride~ I had no idea this game would take so long to playthrough! its a pretty decent length VN considering it's free. As usual heres my end of game thoughts:
I played a bit of this game before streaming it but didnt really get far into it since I had only played parts of Rods route before I got squicked out by it. I came out with the experience enjoying it, though more than half of the routes I had a problem with...
Rods route would have been better if it didnt have the "were related" stuff in it. I'd still go into it hating it since I know theyre related, but nothing squicks me out more than an incest route where theres angst over the fact it's incest. Doesn't matter if they're only half siblings. I love Rod as a character but I just cant get behind dating him as Lucette sorry. I think thats an overarching feeling I had with the routes I disliked, I liked the character but didn't like them being with *Lucette* specifically.
Loved Karmas route, he was the light that shined throughout all the routes, everytime I experienced a route I didn't like I had hope the next one would be good since Karmas was great. I love Karma as a character and think his dynamic with Lucette is nice. I also enjoyed how his curse was a bit more complex and multifaceted. It also was one of the few where the curse was put on him because he did something bad and through living with the curse he came to grow as a person, which parallels quite well with Lucettes whole character development in the game too.
Rumpel I came into enjoying but with the drama with his ex that popped up, and then the reveal that his age gap with Lucette is the biggest amongst the cast it kinda really put a bad taste in my mouth. I just wish there were more flirt character routes where you dont have to deal with their past girlfriends or fan clubs cause at this point im tired of that otome trope. I do like Chevalier when he recovers his memories and think he's a great guy I'd more than be happy to date IRL but again he has the same problem with Rod as being a character I can't support *Lucette* being with.
Fritz.... poor Fritz.... you were the chosen one... you could have had it all.... A childhood friend archetype... my weakness.... a knight that protects his princes... another weakness... a little bit of spice with Varg that shows his more possessive side.... again, my weakness. It's just... his entire route ruins a lot of this sadly. You hardly spend time with him in his route for one. Lucette winds up being left alone a lot of the time. I know its cause hes gone done Varg stuff but I wish they spent more time together outside of the protect my gf plotlines... this route also made me tired of the amount of running back and forth between the marchen and the castle... please... plan your strategy and stick to it... don't run into things thinking you'll be the martyr... I get this is the "villain" route but dont be so wishy washy on Lucette if you're gonna go with that mindset with this route. I also really abhor how Varg was a curse induced personality. I get that it was probably not their intention but Varg came across to me as being a DID alter and that reveal just... again,,, left a sour taste in my mouth. It brought to my mind the thought that "DID is seen as a curse". And I hate that! I also just feel really bad for Varg. I wish he didnt have to die in the end and there could have been some sort of compromise with Fritz in sharing the same body and living each of their own lifes. Like how Ukyo in Amnesia is handled. Came into this kinda excited since he reminded me of Ukyo in a lot of ways, but I wound up just being very disappointed by his route with my expectations dashed. Fritz and Varg deserved better. And so did the huge amount of people that got killed this route! again, i get its the more "villain" esque route but it was a bit depressing how many people died. Waltz route has a lot of deaths too but it felt a whole lot better than this route....
Waltz. WALTZ!!!! I didnt think I'd like him as much as I came out REALLY liking him. He took a lot of the things I looked for in Fritz and actually pulled it off in a way I enjoyed. For one he spends a lot of time with Lucette in his route and just is a fun guy to be around. He wants to make her happy and I feel like he really would be content just spending time with her. When I found out his backstory with Lucette it just immediately made him best boy for me. His little nicknames... the way he makes Lucette open up to people... I absolutely adored him.
