Even though it has been a meme in the Civilization community for many years, I was surprised to see a lack of videos showing off the Gandhi computer player using nukes in any of the Civilization games. In turn, I decided to record this video to demonstrate this easter egg in Civilization V. The contradiction is pretty stark. In one turn, he may be suing for peace. Then, a couple of turns later, he's turning my civilization into a Fallout game.

I started the game in the Information Age. There are 4 parts to this video:

0:32 5 turns after declaring war, where everything turns to shit. For all the talk about Gandhi being nuke happy, Gandhi doesn't nuke you immediately. I even gave Gandhi nukes via the Ingame Editor mod, but he still refused to pull the trigger. Gandhi seemed more interested in negotiating a peace treaty, and I was getting worried that Gandhi would never turn my civilization into ashes.

Fortunately (or unfortunately for Mongolia), Gandhi lived up his reputation on turns 281 and 282, when he obliterated Beshbalik with back-to-back nuclear missiles. A couple of turns later, Gandhi offered me another peace treaty, which of course I rejected. A couple of turns after the offer, Gandhi nuked my capital Karakorum, killing not only most of Mongolia's military units, but also some of Gandhi's own Indian marines that were positioned near Karakorum.
