Class 222 East Midlands Trains Train Ride (9/8/2016) HD
12This is a train ride on a Class 222 "Meridian" Railcar set from Leicester to Derby as I have always wanted to do a train ride on one of these units. So here it is and this is standard class. Not a bad ride, seats are quite cosy but I still prefer my HST's I think :). These Railcars are capable of doing 125mph although they are only permitted to do 110mph on the Midland Mainline where they are allocated. The Class 222 "Meridian" is a DEMU that is powered by a 750hp Cummins QSK19 Diesel Engine that is coupled to an alternator to power the traction motors per unit rather than using a "direct-drive" system like on many DMU's such as the Class 185. Anyway I hope that you will enjoy the ride on this unit.
