Dear Nerdarchy,
A learning DM here. I had two questions that I was recently mulling over. The first one doesn't directly connect to a campaign I was running but may be important at some later point: whether or not the Gate spell in 5e would require the true name of a demon or devil to summon them through. The wording specifically says that pseudonyms, titles and nicknames wouldn't work. Does that include a common name of a demon or devil, or would those work just fine?
Second question does pertain to a one shot that I hope to run later sometime. How should I hint at cult activities in a local church that the players can unravel? I plan to use the Innistrad Planeshift material in that one, having the act as cathars for the Church of Avacyn investigating the churches ranks for Skirsdag cultists, and I wanted some decent meat in rooting out the cultists.
