There sure are a lot of climbing games coming out recently, aren't there? Up until a few years ago, this genre barely existed - and now it's one of the fastest growing and most highly regarded genres of indie games out there - what happened? And what is it that makes climbing games so uniquely compelling?
It wasn't until The Architect had scaled every PEAK they could find, and fallen off of most of them too that they finally found the answer. Climbing games are fun, not because they're empowering or affirming or even particularly enjoyable, we can't stop playing them because they're not afraid to be a little bit hostile.
