14When was the last time you updated the operating system on your phone? Probably not too long ago. But when was the last time we upgraded the operating system of our democracy? Well... we never have. Canada's voting system is called FIRST-PAST-THE-POST. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, known as the OECD, is a network of the world's largest and most successful democracies. And out of the 38 members, only 3 countries use first-past-the-post for their national elections. Of those three countries, only one uses first-past-the-post for all levels of government. Just one: Canada.
