On the level Numbers in the beginning when you start playing you need to destroy the Nova 6 containers in some way and then try to get the tape from the recorder in the little office, if the recorder doesn't open up with the tape then you need to retry and do it again until it does, after that just go where I went and put the tape in the other player and at some point the thundergun will pop out of the wall.
