There really isn't much to say for Nicola. Since we are casting at a distance without being physical, we can spam him down from a distance relatively easily. We do need to watch for his rocket jumps, but for the most part, Nicola serves to simply remind us of the friends we've lost along the way. Queen's Breath offers some simply exceptional gifts for later sections of the game. Having access to a sweep strike of elemental damage offers great rewards later on. Even though Nicola is gone, his wonderful gifts will continue on through us to great avail!
