This DA2 codex entry found around Krikwall in Act 1. Here, we see that Meredith was only Knight-Commander on a fluke. What would have happened to Krikwall if Guylian was still alive? If nothing else, Meredith likely watched her Knight-Commander hung for no reasons. Meredith's trauma from seeing this tyrant in action likely played a part in her madness.
