Codex Naturalis - play through (3p)
3BJ and Jerod welcome guest host, Jesse from I Heart Board Games Twitch / YouTube, to the Gumbo Pot for a challenging game of CODEX NATURALIS from Bombyx.
It's designed by Thomas Dupont with art by Maxime Morin and plays up to four players in 20-30 minutes. CODEX NATURALIS combines two different types of cards (resources and scoring) and some tableau building with patterns that should delight any abstract puzzle fan.
** Note that we should have stressed something in the rules teach at the start of the video that confuses new players (from the designer's note in the BGG forums):
When you place a card the rules are:
- It must cover at least one visible corner (a printed one), and it may cover several visible corners.
- You never can cover a non visible corner.
- You never can cover more than one corner on each card (so when you place a card, it can cover up to four corners, on four different cards).
We definitely forgot to teach Jesse that the card on the tableau must have a visible corner but the card in your hand does not, which might have made a difference in his plays!
