3,207"Comics have never been better!" Amazon is effectively shutting down comiXology, with 75% of the staff being laid off this week. Remember how digital comics supposedly made up all the missing sales from monthly books? Yeah, well, it wasn't enough to make a case for Amazon to keep it around. This on top of mysterious sales numbers and a growing number of freelancers and publishers having major financial trouble seems to indicate that the comic book industry, as we knew it, is effectively over.
