Commentary gameplay of Command & Conquer: Commando (1997) for the PS1
đđđŠđ: Hidden Palace Org/The Cutting Room Floor
Command & Conquer: Commando was once thought to be a tech demo for an unmaterialized title in the Command & Conquer series, but the source code for Command & Conquer: Renegade and some archived footage suggest it's actually a very early prototype of Renegade. It was to be developed by Tetragon and published by The 3DO Company for the PlayStation (though apparently the available build was developed by Point of View), but the poor sales of Nanotek Warrior forced studio founder Mark Skaggs to shut down his company.
Skaggs would later join Westwood Studios, serving as executive producer and product lead for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer: Generals, and The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth.
A build labeled "Pre-Milestone 1" and dated July 14, 1997 was recovered from a set of data discs that belonged to the developer by ASSEMblergames user jollyroger and released by fellow member Borman on November 23, 2014. Features include a model viewer, two test maps... and nothing else, really.
