For "Please make sure you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed." error you can get the old DirectX versions in a pack here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
You also may need to delete a file dgbhelp.dll from the game directory, I heard this is people with AMD processors.
