We try out the two new components weapon and blocks_attack today in our rougelike minigame Pumpkin Panic. We try to design a nicer and more respectable arena and fix a lot of issues that prevent the game from being at its best.


*Behind The Scenes: *
The reason the flint felt off is because the animation doesn't reach all the way to the crosshair. Intuitively, I was trying to line up the point of the flint at the peak of it's animation with where I was swinging, which is a little to the right of the crosshair, which is why it felt short and what a lot of my misses were slightly to the right of the crosshair. As another data point, the amethyst felt much better and it's much longer and able to get closer to the crosshair.
Technically, the phantom isn't immune to damage when it flashes red, it just has to receive higher damage to override the fire damage. So for example a more powerful bow or a fully charged shot is less likely to bounce than a half charged shot or weaker bow.
I messed around a very long time trying to get the block display to work with the phantom, but I could not get it to invert properly onto the phantom. I tried doing a ton of weird rotations, trying to have it wear the pumpkin as a sweater, a backpack, and nothing worked. In the future I may be able to add some more advanced logic to flip the pumpkin around, but even then it seemed like the head position of the phantom was changing too much for it to look good as a helmet. Very, very finicky thing, that phantom. (After the episode, I discovered this command "/execute store result entity @n[type=block_display,distance=..4] Rotation[1] float -1.0 run data get entity @n[type=phantom,distance=..4] Rotation[1] 1.0" which works, but the position of the pumpkin on the phantom's head continues to be a problem. Maybe one day...)

Command Block Survival is a gamemode where every command has a self-imposed price. It allows crafting of certain creative mode items (the recipe is part of the price) and adds an entirely new dimension of creativity!
