In this video I will show how to give yourself a special item that can virtually trap any mob that comes near, make it the perfect tool for hunting mobs.

1. Repeater Command Block: /execute if entity @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:snowball",tag:{display:{Name:'{"text":"Mini Mob Trap"}'}}}}] run execute as @e[type=snowball] at @s run summon minecraft:area_effect_cloud ~ ~ ~ {Duration:2s,Tags:["trap_watcher"]}

2. * Trap Remover:

* To give yourself the item: /replaceitem entity @p hotbar.8 minecraft:barrier{display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Trap Remover\",\"color\":\"gray\",\"bold\":true}"}}

1. Repeater Command Block: /execute if entity @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:barrier",tag:{display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"Trap Remover\",\"color\":\"gray\",\"bold\":true}"}}}}] run kill @e[type=minecraft:zombie,name="Mini Mob Trap"]

2. Repeater Command Block: /kill @e[type=minecraft:item,nbt={Item:{id:"minecraft:rotten_flesh"}}]
