Hello everyone and welcome once again to my channel today I’m talking about the end of Star Wars Commander on Android and iOS. Now I have been posting some videos in the last couple of days kind of foreshadowing this to happen … I didn’t want this to happen but since the game just stopped with no new content, no new events and no conflicts which have always been present the fanbase and the community started to think that Zynga the owners of the game would call it quits. Well now that time has come, today on March 13th, 2020 the game open with a message from the developers saying and I quote:

GAME CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT

Thank You for playing Star Wars Commander. But the time has come to say goodbye. WE have decided to retire Star Wars Commander as of March 13th, 2020, all in-game purchases have been disabled but the game will remain playable. The game officially retires at 11 AM on June 12th, 2020. We will also implement in-game changes, stay tuned for more. We didn’t come to this decision lightly, we love this game as much as you do… It’s been an honor thank you for playing.

and there we have it. I don’t know how long it has been, but I think it’s either been 6 or 7 years now and I’ve had the pleasure to play this since day one. One could argue that the game started ending when they started implementing the gold fragments in order to unlock new units. For me personally, it has been extremely difficult to unlock anything much less fully upgrading anything. There have been countless units that one could unlock and strangely in some cases, it was almost made impossible to upgrade Lord Vader for example which may be ok since he might a bit overpowered from level 7 and up.

Anyway … I am not an expert on why this game failed. I’m just here to bring in the bad news. I’ve met some people through the game that are awesome and would like to give a shoutout to my people at Spaceballs .

It’s been a fun game. Saying goodbye I will be uploading more footage of the game from different planets so there will be plenty of material online about the game even when it is long gone. So I want to say thank you for watching and I feel everyone affected by the end of this game.
