Wizball, a Commodore 64 original game by Sensible Software and published by ocean in 1987,

"For many years, Wiz and his fantastic cat lived happily in brightly coloured Wizworld. All was not well however as a malevolent force has discovered this vista and intended to stamp out brilliance once and for all. The evil Zark and his horrible sprites have moved in to eliminate the spectrum and render all landscapes drab and grey. So jump in your transporter and with the help of your faithful servant Catelite restore Wizworld to its former glory. Collect icons for special effects as you manoeuvre to shake off the alien forces."

This is one of those games that looks simple on the surface but soon ends up in frustration until you read and follow the rules! On first play iots is likely you will endup bouncing around everywhere getting nowhere until all lives are lost. What you are ment to do is collect the powerups right from the start and activate them before facing any aliens that fight back. The game becomes more interesting then. However as you complete levels the aliens get more aggressive and it can be difficult to dodge their fire while getting things done. You can roll along the ground and use the cat to clear up the aliens and in doing so you are near as invulnarable. I dont use this tactic often as im trying to rush through but that ends up being a bad idea.

Between levels you get a small shootemup section to claim upto 2 lives. I complete this just once at the start and then just a quick play everyother time. In hindsite I should have just inst failed the bonus missions to cut 20 mins off the video length. To complete a level you have to create 3 colours by collecting collors from unlocked levels. it can be time consuming as once you have collected colours, you need to kill X ammount of aliens shown in top left before more colours will spawn.

Once all 8 levels are complete, you get a small ending and then the game loops with massively more difficult enemies. I dont think the game wants you to progress much more. At this point I expell all remaining lives to end the game.
