"Compass Point: What is the African Model for Net Zero by 2050?" took place at the 7th Edition of the Future Investment Initiative on October 24th, 2023.
Climate change poses a unique challenge to Africa, coalescing with issues around food insecurity, poverty and inequality, and gaps in infrastructure and investment – yet the continent is also a hotbed of new ideas and solutions to achieve net zero ambitions, at home and abroad. How can academics, policymakers, and private actors join forces to implement bold solutions and support African nations such as the Kingdom of Morocco in achieving their net-zero ambitions, while also positioning the continent as a model for green ambition and innovation?
