Complete Noob's Guide to Audio Equalization for Voice Overs and Music
This video shows what should be considered a 'sledge hammer' approach to audio equalization - specifically so you can understand what is being said in a voice over when played over a music track.
This hopefully will explain what is going on in hopefully an easy to understand way. I'm sure people who do this regularly will have a lot of information they could add so please leave a comment with other approaches.
I called it a 'sledge hammer' approach because I'm sure there are better and more refined curves that won't change the underlying music too much. This video is really just to help you get started with the principles rather than to provide a specific formula.
If you do have specific settings that work well for you, please put them in a comment.
PS. The echo/reverb you hear on the recorded voice is because I didn't think to use headphones. I did say it was a complete noob's guide, meaning I'm the complete noob. :)
