Completing my custom loop cooling OLC and after results
Edit: By the way, small changes have been made since this video. The reservoir is now hard mounted (no zip ties!) to the case using Fractal Designs' provided mounting bracket and I've since overclocked (and returned to stock) on the CPU. Tested out the GPU for overclock capability but got nowhere.
As well as this, the fans have been rotated to be upside down so that their cables are a lot cleaner, as has some of the other cables in that area.
The i7 4790k can happily hit 4.7Ghz with an idle temperature of 35c, standard workload of 50c and stress test maximum temperature of 71c.
Pretty happy with the results.
PC specs:
CPU: Intel i7 4790k @ 4.00ghz. Will be going back to 4.6ghz (or more) soon now I've got the custom loop installed.
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 Fury X @ Stock (1050/500)
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
PSU: Corsair TX750M
Pump: EKWB 'EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM (incl. pump)'
Radiators: EK-CoolStream SE 360 (Slim Triple) (26mm thick)
Fluid: Pure, distilled water mixed with EKWB 'EK-Ekoolant EVO CLEAR (concentrate 100mL)', dyed with Mayhems purple & using the Mayhems aurora.
Fun note; before I had this cooling set-up, I was using an NZXT Kraken X61 (280mm, thick radiator) for the CPU and the stock Fury X AIO water cooler.
Having come over to my new loop, the CPU idle temperature seems to be 1 - 2c higher (though this could be due to a rise in ambient temperature as it is getting hotter) but the maximum temperature has gone from 70c (stress testing maximum) to 56c - a decrease of 14c.
Much more impressively though is the Fury X.
In ashes of the Singularity, DX12, 2560x1440, Extreme preset, 144hz monitor (W/Freesync), the Fury X would reach 65c.
Now in the new loop, the highest I've seen it is 40c.
That's a 25c decrease in maximum temperature.
I'm shocked by it, but so far all of my testing confirms it to be true.
As for cost, the price of all components (including distilled water, tubes, fittings, pump, rads, cleaning kit and so on) was £630/$900.
